A Private Villa Wedding in Tuscany – Storytelling Through Light
When Matthew and Megan invited me to document their wedding in a private villa nestled in the rolling hills of Tuscany, Italy, I knew it would be something unforgettable. This wasn’t just a ceremony; it was an intimate celebration of connection, framed by olive groves, golden light, and that unmistakable Tuscan charm.
I had first met them during their engagement photoshoot in the stunning Algarve – not surprising for many of you, as Ever After Frames is a Portugal-based wedding and engagement photography brand, specializing in capturing destination love stories across Algarve, Lisbon, and beyond. That first session revealed a couple whose bond was deep and natural – the kind that speaks volumes without words.
In Tuscany, that connection unfolded all over again.
A few months later, they reached out to me with an incredible request: they wanted me to photograph their wedding in Tuscany. I was thrilled! The idea of capturing their love story in such a breathtaking location was a dream come true. Their trust in me to be part of such an important day meant the world, and I couldn’t wait to bring their vision to life. It was an unforgettable experience, blending the beauty of Italy with their unique love story.
Matthew and Megan rented a villa called Romigiano Wine Farm in Tuscany. It was a beautiful property set amidst vineyards. The place, both outdoors and indoors, was perfect for capturing the details of the wedding.
The Villa: A Private Italian Dream
The venue was a hidden gem in the heart of the Italian countryside. Vineyards stretched as far as the eye could see, and the villa’s rustic elegance provided the perfect backdrop for an emotional, sun-drenched celebration. Every element felt intentional – from the handwritten vows under an ancient oak tree, to the candlelit dinner beneath the stars.
Why a Villa Wedding in Tuscany?
Privacy and intimacy: ideal for smaller, heartfelt gatherings
Architecture and light: terracotta walls, cypress trees, golden hour magic
One location for ceremony, dinner, and celebration
As a photographer, this is a dream setup. Everything flows naturally, allowing couples to be present without stress.
Emotional First Look Among the Vines
One of the most moving moments? The first look.
Surrounded by vineyards, with birdsong in the background and afternoon light pouring through the vines, Matthew saw Megan for the first time in her dress. The emotion was raw and unfiltered. It’s in moments like this that I step back, let the story unfold, and simply press the shutter.
“It felt like the world paused just for us.” — Megan
This is why I believe first looks are so powerful. Whether it’s Portugal or Italy, creating a quiet moment before the ceremony makes all the difference.
Then, it was time for the groom’s preparations. It was wonderful to witness his connection with his best friend.
And then it was time for Megan’s preparations, on the very last floor, surrounded by family and friends.
A Ceremony Bathed in Light
The ceremony took place just before sunset, on a small terrace overlooking the hills. The light in Tuscany behaves differently – soft, enveloping, almost cinematic. We built the timeline to align perfectly with golden hour.
There were tears, laughter, and heartfelt speeches. It was not about performance, but presence.
A beautiful wedding ceremony took place under the Tuscan sky.
We had time for a late afternoon photoshoot, just the two of them. Playful time with the veil.
Timeless Portraits in the Tuscan Countryside
After the vows, we wandered through olive groves and gravel paths for portraits. These weren’t overly posed shots. Just the two of them walking, laughing, soaking in the moment. That’s the rhythm I always aim for: natural, honest, poetic.
If you’re planning a destination wedding in Tuscany, trust the light. Let the landscape guide you. And find someone who knows how to frame it without interrupting the moment.
As you remember we were surrounded by vineyards
Time to eat and have fun with friends
And then, we returned to the vineyards for a few moments to catch the sunset.
